Connecting peace education with sustainable development.
APE —
Active
Peace
Education
1-year international project focused on innovative learning methods, youth work, and conflict-sensitive education.
By implementing APE project we aim to:
Create educational methodologies
on peace and sustainable development: we will design integrated peace and sustainable development education toolkit with participatory learning methods and we will establish guidelines for conflict-sensitive approaches in education for sustainable development (ESD)
Peace-sensitive education
for sustainable development: we will enable youth workers and educators to use of the developed methodologies in their grassroots work, particularly in facilitating discussions on polarising issues
Capacity for cooperation:
we will create spaces to exchange know-how in peace-oriented youth work
Raise awareness
about the link between ESD and peace-building: we will develop and implement awareness campaigns that highlight the links between peace education and sustainable development.
Partners
APE consists of 3 phases:
Development of educational methods (toolkit)
Partners co-create an innovative toolkit that combines peace education with sustainable development education, focusing on conflict sensitivity and practical methods for youth workers.
Training course (testing the toolkit) — "Peace meets sustainability"
Youth workers and educators from Germany and Spain come together to test the toolkit, build new skills, and share feedback for improvement.
Local actions (implementing the toolkit)
Partners bring the APE methods to their communities through workshops and events, spreading awareness about the connection between peace and sustainability.
